Long Island Restaurant Week
If you’re a foodie, you may already know that some of the finest food on the East Coast is available in the 118 miles that comprise Long Island. What you may not know is that for a one-week period in the fall, it’s a steal.
Since 2011, some of the finest restaurants across the Island have combined to offer Restaurant Week, which happens both fall and spring (when the absence of summer crowds makes restaurant attendance comparatively sluggish.) Each restaurant offers a choice of at least three appetizers, three entrees and three desserts for a 3-course prix-fixe cost of just $28.95. Take the weekend – this one or next -- and combine the restaurants at night with some of Long Island’s gorgeous hiking trails by day (Hither Hills State Park, East Hampton; Sunken Forest, Fire Island; Caumsett State Park, Lloyd Harbor; David Weld Sanctuary, Nissequogue) and you might not even notice the calories.
Over 240 restaurants from all around the island will participate, starting Sunday, October 29 through November 5. The deal is good for the restaurants’ usual dinner hours Monday through Saturday, and up to 7 pm on Sundays.
