Macabre Faire Film Festival
So, just how into the macabre are you? If the answer is “very,” the Macabre Faire Film Festival is for you.
The event begins 2 days of non-stop films then an (optional) Red Carpet ceremony Saturday night. On Friday and Saturday, over 50 movies, ranging from 3 minute shorts to full-length features, run pretty much continuously from mid morning to late night (in some cases, after midnight) in four different screening rooms, simultaneously. On Saturday, there is a separate ticketed event that will feature dinner, entertainment and the Awards Ceremony. Then on Sunday, they do it over again. It’s not a gore fest – movie subjects run the gamut from horror to sci-fi to dark dramas to comedy to twisted tales and fantasy; and films are solicited from fans and screened by a committee, so quality runs from homemade to a lot better.

Lest you think this is just a movie fest, it's a convention of horror fans (sometimes entertainment in themselves) and a smattering of horror movie stars. Special guests include Eileen Dietz ("The Exorcist"), Eugene Clark ("Land of the Dead"), Jasson Finney ("Gotham") and more. There are Q + As, live shows, and trade show-style booths galore.
As for ticket prices, they range. Macabre junkies will want a Super Weekend Rendezvous Festival Pass ($100, which includes the Red Carpet Gala event); or the $75 Saturday Festival Pass which includes the Red Carpet Gala. The less adventurous can opt for one day admission in advance ($25 Friday, $30 Saturday, $20 Sunday for adults.) By the way, the event organizers say “Bring the family but be warned -- things can get very creepy around here.”
