Father's Day at Long Island Museum
Looking for a great Father’s Day gift that won’t cost a dime? Take Dad to the Long Island Museum on his special day, where he’ll find the finest collection of horse-drawn carriages in the county, and you’ll find admission is free for fathers and grandfathers on Father’s Day.
There is both an Art Museum and a Carriage Museum here, with the latter’s collection of more than 200 horse-drawn carriages being widely recognized as the finest in the US. About 100 carriages are regularly on display, along with other rare artifacts from the carriage era. The Carriage Museum also houses an authentic 19th century carriage making shop, complete with working machinery. The art collection contains more than 4000 works from the early 1800s to the present, including the largest collection of works by renowned Stony Brook resident William Sidney Mount.
Sunday hours a noon to 5 pm, and non-Dad admission is $10 adults, $7 seniors, $5 for students ages 6-17, with kids under 6 free.
