Classic Wine Country Bicycle Tour

The beautiful North Fork of Long Island is always a great place to take it slow, and a leisurely 12-mile bike ride along the country roads might be the best way to appreciate it. And stopping to appreciate the offerings of three local wineries – well, that’s even better.

The tour leaves from the charming town of Mattituck at 10AM, stopping to take in incredible views of the Peconic Bay & Robins Island. Before long, you arrive at your first winery, where you’ll enjoy a special reserve tasting, with a fresh fruit / cheese & cracker platter to keep your energy up.

After some easy riding (and a stop at one the local farm stands where you can purchase some fresh produce – you’ll be happy to know they carry it for you, and return it to you when the bike riding ends) you arrive at your second winery. Here, you indulge in a gourmet picnic lunch served on the beautiful grounds of the vineyard – then hit the tasting room to sample more wine.

Provided you’ve been taking the tour company advice – swirl, sniff, sip and spit – you may still be able to pedal to your third winery, where you again get samples, before a mercifully short ride back to Mattituck. You’re usually back by 4 PM, where you can stroll the adorable shops of the town’s Love Lane.

This is pretty easy riding, mostly flat with some small rolling hills, so even folks who haven’t been on a bike in a while will probably do just fine. They’ll even rent you a bike for a few extra bucks -- $160 per person, $145 without rental (lunch and drinks included, of course.)

This tour is available to groups of six or more. 2018 dates filling up quickly. For more information and tour availability call 631-824-3360.
