36th Annual Oyster Festival

If you’re finding yourself bombarded with sickly sweet Pumpkin Spice Everything and craving a culinary change this fall, you can’t do much better than a salty, briny oyster, harvested straight from the sea. And October’s 36th Annual Oyster Festival celebrates what may be the very best bite the ocean has to offer, in the perfect setting, the town of Oyster Bay.

More than 150,000 visitors will come together to try delicious oysters in every iteration you can think of: fresh from the shell with a spritz of lemon, crispy and deep fried, and deliciously stewed. If you’re a hardcore oyster lover, you can join in on the live oyster-shucking and oyster eating competitions; if you’re not, there’s plenty more to eat – from other seafoods to festival favorites like funnel cakes and cotton candy at the Festival’s massive food court.

It’s not all food, of course. You can listen to local bands play live music on the main stage, shop local artisans, or get an adrenaline rush on carnival rides. Kids can join the Kings of Coast pirates on treasure hunts around the festival and learn about local marine life at the Waterfront Experience.!

The 36th Annual Oyster Festival takes place rain or shine on October 19th and October 20th from 11 am to 6 pm. Event admission is free, as well as most of the activities on offer, and all food proceeds go to towards local community organizations focused on improving Oyster Bay. Parking lots with a free shuttle to the festival are located across town and parking is free; visit the website to see a full list of lot locations and transportation options, as street parking in the town is limited.
