Connetquot River State Park Haunted House Tours

Who says ghosts are all poor wretches? The South Sides Sportsmen’s Club is a beautiful historic clubhouse once frequented by the Gold Coast’s elite, including members of the Vanderbilt family and President Ulysses S. Grant, and it’s hosting haunted house tours October 18 and 19.

Whether old spirits still haunt the club, the spirit of the past is everywhere. The spooky tour takes you through the historic club after dark, searching for ghosts and ghouls while also sneakily educating the kids on the club’s rich past.   The giant building is guaranteed to be creaky and maybe even a little creepy, and this exclusive tour is one of the few opportunities to visit after dark.

If communing with the underworld isn’t your cup of tea, you might consider a day trip. Connetquot River State Park is a wonderful place for a fall picnic, with spectacular fall foliage as well as rare flora and fauna awaiting you on the park trails. (Look for the rare and beautiful Pink Ladies Slipper, but don’t pick it if you find one!) The Long Island Environmental Interpretive Center is also located on the parks grounds, providing fantastic nature education walks and hikes, and kids adventure programs that will make even the biggest Fortnite addicts excited to get outside.

Haunted House Tours at Connetquot River State Park take place on Friday, October 18th and Saturday, October 19th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and are free, except for the $8 per vehicle parking fee, which covers park admission. Call in advance to reserve a spot, as the tour is sure to be popular.  The tour is kid friendly and appropriate for children ages 7 and up. The park is open from sun-up to sun-down Tuesday through Sunday year- round.
