Hampton International Film Festival
The Hamptons are known as the summer playground for some of Hollywood’s biggest names, but even when it’s too cold to get to the beach you can still spot some of the world’s finest actors, screenwriters, and directors at the annual Hamptons International Film Festival. Held at theaters across the Hamptons, the film festival is a celebration of creative indie filmmaking, featuring everything from documentaries to movie shorts and feature-length films. This year’s festival features over 150 works, with a robust World Cinema program as well as the signature “Views from Long Island” program, which honors the best work of local filmmakers.
If you’re a cinephile, the Hamptons Interational Film Festival gives you an inside track to the movies everyone will be buzzing about during awards season. The curation of the festival is unrivaled; last year, they screened films that received 44 Oscar nominations, a record for any film festival in the world. (On this year’s list: the Bruce Springsteen concert documentary “Western Stars” and the new film “Aeronauts,” starring Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne and nominee Felicity Jones.) For fans of film history, iconic director Brian de Palma will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award and a screening of his beloved film “Blow Out.”
The 27th Annual Hamptons Film Festival takes place from Thursday, October 10th to Monday, October 14th. Tickets are $15 per film screening or $28 for one of the festivals signature Spotlight films; to see a full listing of screenings, Q&A’s, and film locations, check out the Film Festival’s website.
