Rock the Harvest

October is about beer, beer, and more beer, with Oktoberfest events popping up on every corner, but what about all the wine lovers out there? You won’t feel forgotten at Pindar Vineyards’ ‘Rock the Harvest’ music fest, which brings together the traditional party atmosphere associated with Oktoberfest with some of the best wine produced on all of Long Island.

Pindar’s  unique vineyard setting provides an amazing backdrop for live music, and is an excellent place to unwind with a group of friends. The vineyard features more than 500 acres where it grows the grapes that eventually become its signature wines, the perfect setting for an autumn stroll. You’ll be able to rock out with a glass of red or white in hand to the music of the Bon Jovi tribute band Bon Journey. Food trucks will be on hand so you can enjoy amazing local grub, along with pop-up shops from local craftsmen.

If you’re seriously into wine, Pindar Vineyards has been in operation for more than 35 years, and was one of the wineries that  helped put Long Island on the map of the winemaking industry. They’ve got a pleasantly rustic tasting room and also host a Private VIP Tasting Bar, where for $25 a person a wine educator will take you through 5 delicious blends, enlightening you on the winemaking process as you sip everything from chardonnay to merlot.

Rock the Harvest takes place on Saturday, October 19th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and the event – outside of food and wine --  is free.  Food trucks will arrive at noon, so show up early if you’d like a picnic before things get loud; parking is free and available on site. Pindar’s Tasting Room is open every day from 11 am to 6 pm, but call in advance to book a VIP Tasting or if you have a large group.
