That Motown Band

If music and theater is your thing, Long Island Winterfest has it on Saturday, February 22 – whatever style you’re into. There’s a NOLA-inspired Mardi Gras afternoon at Jamestown Brewery (Brews & Beads, 1:30—5:30 pm); acoustic music with Joe Gentile at Cooperage Inn (6-9pm), even a ballet performance at Peconic Ballet Theatre (7-9 pm). But we’ve decided to highlight That Motown Band, which plays Hotel Indigo East End.

That Motown Band is a moving experience – literally – with a ten-piece band playing all the classic dance favorites you know. It’s a ballroom event, with $20 general admission on a first-come, first-served basis, but we doubt you’ll want to stop there: adding a 4-course Prix Fixe dinner brings your total to $59 per person (tax and gratuity not included), or you can splurge on the overnight experience – dinner, dancing, an overnight stay, and a breakfast buffet for two – all for a very reasonable $259.

That Motown Band plays 7-10 pm. If you want to make an overnight or a full weekend of it, there are a few daytime activities nearby, like the Long Island Aquarium --  431 East Main Street, also in Riverhead.
