Sometimes, you just can’t beat a classic - and on Valentine’s Day, dinner and a show with your better half is a surefire winner. Even better when that show is a suite of pitch-perfect standards by Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti in the grandly restored Art Deco digs of Riverhead’s Suffolk Theater.
The show is appropriately known as ‘Sal-Entine’s’ weekend, and it’s an evening of classics that’s sure to put you in the romantic spirit. Sal is a crooner in the Rat Pack mode, a true Long Islander who delivered pizzas for his family’s Bethpage restaurant before hitting the big time in the 2016 season of America’s Got Talent. He made it all the way to the finals with golden-voiced renditions of classics like “My Way” and “Santa Baby,” and backed by the Black Tie Brass band, it’s easy to see what charmed the judges and all of America. Order a martini or a bottle of champagne and sing along to Sinatra’s standards; the Suffolk theater even lets you order dinner from Noah’s right at your table. (Noah Schwartz, who founded the well-regarded Greenport restaurant, has taken over as Suffolk’s Executive Chef.) It’s the perfect one-stop shop for Valentine’s Day romance.
Salentine’s Weekend is Friday, February 14th and Saturday the 15th, with both shows beginning at 8PM and doors opening at 6:30. Tickets are $65 for cabaret style seating, and there’s a food and drink minimum, so ordering dinner is well worth considering.
